Common Injuries We Treat

3.png

Neck pain is present in nearly all car accidents because of the quick bending of the neck forward then backward, or side-to-side.  This stresses the ligaments and muscles of the cervical spine causing instability and pain.  If left untreated, compensations can occur in the thoracic spine and shoulders, requiring more complex rehabilitation.

Low back pain is the most common type of injury we treat.  There are many factors that can cause pain in the lumbar spine because of the many soft tissue connections to the bones of the hips and back.  Tension in the psoas muscles and hip flexors of the thigh, as well as hip rotator muscles and back extensors are all often associated with lumbar spine pain. Specific stretching of these muscles help to greatly alleviate low back pain.

Shoulder pain after an accident is very common because of the complexity of the joint, having many smaller muscles that are prone to tearing, as well as the high degree of mobility of the glenohumoral joint.  Physical Therapy has been shown in studies to result in excellent outcomes for many shoulder injuries. When surgery is required, PT is advised after to regain full shoulder movement, stability, and strength.
